(Source) A Woodlawn man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly ran up a $900 bar tab at a West Loop Chinese restaurant and couldn’t pay it. Jermaine Thomas, 28, of the 6100 block of South Ellis Avenue, was at the Dragonfly Mandarin Restaurant, county prosecutors said, attending a friend’s birthday celebration until nearly 3 a.m. Sunday morning. When it came time to pay the bill, which was $911.56 for food and drink, an employee ran several of Thomas’s credit cards but they were not able to cover the tab.

Thomas then tried to flee the restaurant, according to court records, pushing a police officer in the chest in the process. Two officers performed a takedown and Thomas was arrested outside the 832 W. Randolph St. location.  “What, they all ran out the door and left him with the bill? “Judge Adam. D. Bourgeois Jr. asked after the prosecutor finished speaking. Thomas was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Monday afternoon and released on a $10,000 I-bond with electronic home monitoring required.

That right there is a man who said “Fuck it, today I’m ordering 900 dollars worth of Chinese food, never using a napkin, and walking out on the tab”. Sometimes you just have to live a little. And endless Crab Rangoons, Hot Wings and Moo Shu Pork is the very definition of letting loose. Can’t expect to throw a Birthday Party in a Chinese Restaurant and not have things get at least a little wild right? Next time you invite Jermaine Thomas to a party, make sure you have a working credit card, simple as that.
